Responsible disposal of electronics is now mandatory in New York City and households FACE A FINE for disposing them in the regular trash.
Bring working and non-working electronics:
BRING: computers, monitors, printers, scanners, keyboards, TVs, VCRs, DVD players, phones, cell phones, PDAs, fax machines, audio/visual equipment and video games
DO NOT BRING: household appliances, ACs, refrigerators, smoke alarms/carbon monoxide detectors

Items from residents, small businesses and not-for-profits are accepted for free.
There is no limit on the amount of items that can be dropped off.
