Director of Social Services
About this Position
The Center is looking for a Director of Social Services to develop, coordinate, and implement programs that help cultivate the emotional, spiritual intellectual, and physical well-being of the Center’s members and non-members .Social Services offers seminars, groups, special events and programs, confidential short-term counseling, information, and referral for in-depth services as needed.
Candidate must be a Licensed Master Social Worker.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate, implement, and manage ongoing programs; identify and oversee facilitators/presenters. Programs include:
- Brain Works for People with Early to Mid-Stage Dementia (twice weekly) – Involves doing initial intakes, meeting with families, supervising facilitators, providing attendance records for billing
- Creative Café (meets from time to time with additional programming for people with dementia)
- Resilience/Caregivers Support Group (2x/month)
- Educational Seminars for Caregivers
- Health & Wellness Educational Seminars, Special Events and Screenings (such as cardiovascular, vision, hearing)
- Men’s Club (weekly)
- New Beginnings Social Club for Widows (1 evening/month)
- Garden Program (for Adult Garden Club and summer camp children)
- Work closely/supervise Coordinator of Adults at Leisure in development of programs for older adults
- Work with the Center’s departments to develop appropriate programs (such as programs on abuse prevention, bullying) or community-wide events such as E-Waste Recycling Day
- Write grant proposals and evaluation reports relevant to social services programming
- Manage departmental budget
- Develop PR materials in conjunction with Center’s designer for flyers and Instagram
- Supervise CDL Bus Driver & Transportation program
- Record-keeping for DFTA compliance
- Assess community needs for program development
- Collaborate with neighborhood agencies
